Distributing music in Vietnam and Southeast Asia
The stores that matter in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, from Zing MP3 and NhacCuaTui to JOOX, LINE MUSIC and KKBOX, and how to plan releases for the region.
Southeast Asia is one of the fastest-moving music regions in the world, and one of the most fragmented. The global services are there, but in many countries a local or regional platform leads. Reaching listeners across the region means delivering to both.
Vietnam: Zing MP3 and NhacCuaTui
In Vietnam, two local platforms sit next to the global services:
- Zing MP3 is Vietnam’s leading music platform, with charts that local media and fans follow closely.
- NhacCuaTui adds a large free, ad-supported audience and its own charts.
Together they cover most Vietnamese listeners, alongside Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube. A release aimed at Vietnam should go to all of them on the same day, with Vietnamese titles and artist names spelled consistently everywhere, so the release links up across stores.
Across the region: JOOX, LINE MUSIC and KKBOX
- JOOX, Tencent’s regional service, reaches Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Myanmar, with karaoke and local charts that drive discovery.
- LINE MUSIC is a leading streaming service in Thailand, inside the LINE app people already use every day.
- KKBOX is strong in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.
Social and video come first
Across the region, many fans first hear a song on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook Reels or YouTube Shorts. Deliver your catalog to the social platforms’ music libraries so creators can use it, and register it in YouTube Content ID so the uploads that use your music earn for you instead of against you. Official music videos, delivered as their own releases, reach Apple Music, Amazon Music and TIDAL as well as YouTube.
Plan the release like a regional one
- Deliver early. You can send a release whenever suits you, but at least two weeks before release day leaves time for review, store processing and pitching.
- Get the metadata right once. Local-language titles with a clear romanised version where stores need one, consistent artist names and correct credits avoid split profiles later.
- Use one link for the campaign. A smart link with pre-save on Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer, plus buttons for the regional stores, works across every country’s audience.
- Watch the numbers by country. Monthly statements by store and country show where a release is really growing, so the next campaign goes where the listeners are.
